Names, names, we all have names!

Good Morning South Florida Orff,

I have a little poem that I learned somewhere- I don’t remember where 😦  Sorry!  If you know where this comes from please comment below!

Names, names, we all have names!

Short ones, long ones, many in between.

Names, names, we all have names.

Can you say the rhythm of your name?

I do this chant in a circle and start with “can you say your name?”  Then I do, “Can you play your name.”  The students use body percussion or a drum to “play” the rhythm of their name.  Then we take out the words and that leaves the rhythm! The children (especially 2nd and 3rd graders) like to hear the drum “say” their name.

Have you used this?
