“Treasures of Literacy: Using Children’s Literature to Address Music Concepts”
Music teachers use a variety of children’s literature titles and poems in their classrooms on a regular basis. This session explores many varied ways that concepts can be taught through the use of favorite titles and familiar poems. Singing games and play-parties, along with movement and folk dances, are just a few of the experiences that will be shared in this session that looks at the rigor of the pedagogy and the scope and sequence of the content. Bring along your soprano recorder and a hand drum — and grab a friend or two — as we sing a story and play a poem.
