SFOC is a local non-profit organization for music educators, which is nationally affiliated, with the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA). Originally developed by German musician and teacher Carl Orff with the assistance of Gunild Keetman, the Orff-Schulwerk (school work) philosophy utilizes music, movement, speech and creativity to educate the total child. Become a member of the SFOC, and begin your journey. You do NOT need to be Orff certified, and you do NOT need to have taken any Orff Levels to attend these professional developments. Improve your musicianship and overall effectiveness in the music classroom. Professional interaction with other talented music teachers promotes enthusiasm, translating into higher student achievement. Many School Districts acknowledge SFOC workshops and provide Recertification points. All music teachers, even those who lack equipment (such as xylophones or a room), can benefit from Orff workshops. Membership is $55 and allows entrance into every workshop held in the local chapter plus the one state workshop held in February. Come collaborate, learn, and celebrate music teaching!
